Breathe a sigh of relief, harem pants
are out for fall! But what will everyone be wearing? iVillage style
experts (including Miss Piggy and Scarlett Johansson) predict the hot
style and beauty trends.
The Big Coat: "My must-have
for fall 2009 is a big, black coat [or] black or grey wool... [with
a] scarf to kind of switch them up," says actress Scarlett
Johansson. "I think [these] pieces play great with denim, a lot
of nice casual wear, and [stuff that's] more suitable for work like
pencil skirts," she adds.

Pink: "Moi is always very
choosy about deciding who to wear," says Miss Piggy. "This fall,
I'm selecting designers based on three criteria: their originality,
creativity and willingness to part with samples." "Also this
fall, I think that pink will be the new black, plaid will be the new
paisley," says the fashionable pig, who's been hanging out with
Marc Jacobs lately, "and green will still be mine, so back off,
sister!"

Mixing It Up: "Fall will be
about mixing high and low--taking a crisp white shirt and matching
it with an updated navy blazer to create a classic American day
look," says iconic American fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger.
"Bermuda shorts will be a key item to wear day or night."

Juxtaposition: "Fall brings a
juxtaposition," says Geren Lockhart, the creative mastermind behind
Geren Ford. "[You'll see] hardware against delicate silks and
tough-washed cottons and denim, and pleats and gathers shown with
leather and vintage-washed fabrics." "Silhouettes will be
simple, yet constructed with hand-finishing, like painting and
paillettes," the designer adds.
Menswear for Women: "It's
ironic, but there's nothing like a classic menswear-inspired piece to
make a girl feel truly sexy," says Victorya Hong, former cast
member of Project Runway. "And, in this economy, you can't go wrong
by investing in a beautiful tailored piece to mix and match with
everything else you have in your closet."

1980s Diva Style: "[This
season] is an open call for 1980s diva style--any look that pays
tribute to an '80s music video," says Amy Goodman, fashion trend
director for Timex and former InStyle editor. "Don't be afraid to
rock a leather skirt, biker jacket or black strappy sandals as you
begin to switch out your wardrobe." "For those of us who want to
play up prints of the past, but are now tired of last season's
floral fantasy, what will be in are those graphic prints in black and
white that showcase squares, cubes, lines or plaid," she adds.

Max Studio's new romantic look in dark colors features flowing and drapey dresses and tops mixed with edgy shoes.
Fringed suede platform stilettos: A wow shoe really can create magic and Max Studio's newest has sassy, flirty and elegant ankle fringe that kicks up when walking. This suede shoe has a stacked ¾ inch wooden and painted platform and a high 4 ½ inch heel. The bottom of the sole has a rubber pad so dancing the night away is guaranteed! This shoe is not for the fainthearted - it will attract attention when worn ($123)

Shirred satin evening sandals: Yes,
you can! Fun, flirty and elegant, this satin evening strappy
heel will sass up denim, sauce up your LBD and do it with ease. The
silk georgette ruffled ribbon has shirring, raw-edges and little
beaded anthers that move when you walk, or dance. The sides have been
cut out- please use the rotation button to see the silhouette. The
leather sole has painted and beveled edges and the shoe fits true to
size ($129)
Satin fringed evening sandals: A
glamorous satin and chiffon T-Strap tuxedo shoe will transform
everything paired with it to the next fashion dimension! The ribbons
of chiffon have been laser-cut and placed to the sides of the central
strap and have movement with each step. The elegant set-back heel,
the all-leather sole with beveled and painted edges and the overall
elegance finish this shoe and gives the impression that you spent
triple the amount. The heel height is 4 ½ inches ($116)

Landon ankle booties: Keep your
toes toasty in these luxurious lace up ankle booties. Look at these
shoes from all angles to see the details that give them the look of
something you picked up on your last jaunt to Gstaad: the soft and
textured Napa leather, plush shearling, along with a painted wooden
sculptural heel and a fresh pushed up bullnose shape. These glam
booties are more practical than you think, as they are as well suited
for the slopes as they are for pounding the pavement in style. Padded
footbed, leather lining and fit true to size with a leg lengthening
heel ($189)
Unlined open heel booties: This
warrior-chic lace up bootie is exactly what you need to inject a
street smart city vibe into every outfit. Look closely at how the
soft glove leather enfolds the foot and ankle, and how the cut-outs
at the heel and toe add a fashion freshness to a fall boot. The
stacked ¾ inch wooden and painted platform and a 3-inch heel adds
wearable height and makes legs look long and lean. Wear these booties
with or without tights, to toughen up your frilly dresses and skirts,
or go full out fierce with skinny jeans and a leather jacket ($165)

Silk and bamboo broadcloth shirred
shell: Soft shirring on a delicate and eco-friendly bamboo and silk
fabric lends this top its ethereal feel. Look closer at the artisanal
touches that give this shirt texture and flair: the shirring at the
shoulders and bust sewn through with elastic, chain stitched edges
and tiny ruffles, along with a flirty and forgiving empire
silhouette. This bra-friendly shirt will lend a chic touch to classic
suits, jeans, and shorts ($98)
Ruffle sleeve blouse: Intricate
textures combined with luxurious fabrics and a chic silhouette makes
this blouse irresistible. The blouse is created by puckering, shirring and soft pleating,
along with the satin piping that curves about the neckline. Notice
how the cap sleeves are shirred, sewn under and slightly padded to
create a more feminine version of this season's strong shoulder
trend. The silhouette of this top is slightly fitted with a hint of
stretch, so layer under a jacket with the details peeking out, or
wear on it's own with everything from jeans and trousers to sleek
pencil skirts. Leon Max Limited Edition ($180)
Lurex embroidered lace top: The
originality of this season's collection is readily apparent in this
lurex embroidered lace camisole. The interwoven bands of the bodice
not only create a custom fit, but an interesting textural pattern as
well. The textures continue below the empire with the sleek
rubberized lace. This top styles well under a tailored jacket with
chic sculptural shoulders, or as a racier evening look worn on its
own with a slim pair of pants. Leon Max Limited Edition ($180)
Plaid jacquard wrap dress: A subtle
textured black on black plaid and chain stitched edges lend dimension
and interest to this charming tunic. The soft and fluid fabric drapes
and wraps perfectly into a dropped waist blouson silhouette that ties
with a silky sash. The attached slip peeks out from underneath to
lend a chic layered look. This dress can take you effortlessly from
day to evening, and can be worn over tights, jeans and leggings as
the weather cools off ($138)
Printed and crinkled chiffon tucked
dress: A tribal inspired print lends a clever twist to this silk
chiffon dress with an undeniably romantic silhouette. The design
details are not to be missed, like the shirred bust, a chain stitched
empire sewn through with elastic, and the clever twists and folds
throughout that are tacked down to create a dreamy tiered effect. The
shoulders are shirred and padded to form a more feminine take on the
strong shoulder trend of the season. You will wear this now with bare
legs and well into the colder months layered over tights and boots. Leon Max Limited Edition. ($280)

Twofer dress: The softness of this sexy sweater dress will win you over at first touch but it's the vibrant ruffled hem that will win over the hearts of many! It also has shirred silk straps, baby ribbing and a body-slimming silhouette. A little stretch in the knit maintains the va-va-voom silhouette. If you own this dress it will be easy to look like a sexy senorita with one fell swoop - add a pair of metallic high-heeled sandals - and you're ready to salsa the night away! Studio M ($128)
Printed chiffon layered dress: Everything about this dress is enchanting, from the draped chiffon at the shoulders that flutters about the arms and back, to the billowy dropped waist blouson silhouette and the striking red flame design printed onto the luxe and diaphanous silk fabric. The silk slip with pleated detail lends a layered look and the prettiest contrast between the solid blue and sheer printed fabrics. Pair with tall platforms for an effortlessly feminine look that just needs the addition of dark tights in the Fall to make it a year-round piece. Leon Max Limited Edition ($280)
