Breathe a sigh of relief, harem pants
are out for fall! But what will everyone be wearing? iVillage style
experts (including Miss Piggy and Scarlett Johansson) predict the hot
style and beauty trends.
The Big Coat: "My must-have
for fall 2009 is a big, black coat [or] black or grey wool... [with
a] scarf to kind of switch them up," says actress Scarlett
Johansson. "I think [these] pieces play great with denim, a lot
of nice casual wear, and [stuff that's] more suitable for work like
pencil skirts," she adds.

Pink: "Moi is always very
choosy about deciding who to wear," says Miss Piggy. "This fall,
I'm selecting designers based on three criteria: their originality,
creativity and willingness to part with samples." "Also this
fall, I think that pink will be the new black, plaid will be the new
paisley," says the fashionable pig, who's been hanging out with
Marc Jacobs lately, "and green will still be mine, so back off,
sister!"

Mixing It Up: "Fall will be
about mixing high and low--taking a crisp white shirt and matching
it with an updated navy blazer to create a classic American day
look," says iconic American fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger.
"Bermuda shorts will be a key item to wear day or night."

Juxtaposition: "Fall brings a
juxtaposition," says Geren Lockhart, the creative mastermind behind
Geren Ford. "[You'll see] hardware against delicate silks and
tough-washed cottons and denim, and pleats and gathers shown with
leather and vintage-washed fabrics." "Silhouettes will be
simple, yet constructed with hand-finishing, like painting and
paillettes," the designer adds.
Menswear for Women: "It's
ironic, but there's nothing like a classic menswear-inspired piece to
make a girl feel truly sexy," says Victorya Hong, former cast
member of Project Runway. "And, in this economy, you can't go wrong
by investing in a beautiful tailored piece to mix and match with
everything else you have in your closet."

1980s Diva Style: "[This
season] is an open call for 1980s diva style--any look that pays
tribute to an '80s music video," says Amy Goodman, fashion trend
director for Timex and former InStyle editor. "Don't be afraid to
rock a leather skirt, biker jacket or black strappy sandals as you
begin to switch out your wardrobe." "For those of us who want to
play up prints of the past, but are now tired of last season's
floral fantasy, what will be in are those graphic prints in black and
white that showcase squares, cubes, lines or plaid," she adds.
